AUGUST 2017 – Daniel Moseley has been appointed to Managing Director by Northwestern Mutual in Duluth.

Moseley started as an intern with Northwestern Mutual in Duluth in 2011. He has since grown his business significantly in the Duluth area, focusing on clients over 50, helping them get ready for retirement. Dan also ran the internship program in the Duluth office for Northwestern Mutual, giving college students real life experience in financial planning.

Dan has ambitious growth goals for the Duluth office, looking forward to adding at least ten advisors in the Duluth office over the next two years. He will expand the impact that Northwestern Mutual is able to provide the Duluth community, focused on comprehensive financial planning.

Dan is passionate about impacting the community and finance industry. He is an active member of rotary and the chamber of commerce. Dan is a member of the Million Dollar Round Table and NAIFA, and has earned the NAIFA Quality award, Life Impact award, and is a leader in his business at Northwestern Mutual.

A native of Duluth, MN, Moseley received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management from Concordia College in Moorhead. He resides in Duluth with his wife. Ashley, and their two sons, Olli and Jack.

Star Tribune Names Northwestern Mutual - Minneapolis a 2017 Top Workplace

JUNE 2017 - For the second year in a row Northwestern Mutual -  Minneapolis has been named one of the Top 150 Workplaces in Minnesota by the Star Tribune, ranking 36 on the mid-sized company list.

Top Workplaces recognizes the most progressive companies in Minnesota based on employee opinions measuring engagement, organizational health and satisfaction. The analysis included responses from over 69,000 employees at Minnesota public, private and nonprofit organizations. 

Rankings were composite scores calculated purely on the basis of employee responses.

Northwestern Mutual celebrated "Share More Love Day" with the young patients hospitalized at Essentia Health - St. Mary's Children's Hospital. Children and their families had the opportunity to decorate cupcakes (provided by Lyndsay Smitke of Snazzy Cakes) and make valentines day cards. Northwestern Mutual Duluth had the privilage of donating $4000 and 25 Chemo Duck bags to the Esentia Health Foundation to benefit pediatric oncology patients.

William Watson Wins Northwestern Mutual's Managing Director Achievement Award

Financial Security Company Award Recognizes Overall Excellence

June 2015 William Watson, a Managing Director of Northwestern Mutual in Duluth, Minnesota is being honored with the company’s Managing Director Achievement Award.  The award recognizes overall excellence in District Network Office development, including productivity, recruitment and retention of Financial Representatives, and persistency in serving and retaining clients.

Watson’s achievements were recognized at the annual Northwestern Mutual Managing Director Conference in Marco Island, Florida. Watson credits strong relationships for his success.  “There are many great relationships here among staff and with clients,” he said.  “They’re more important than numbers or figures.  I’m looking for good quality people first, and I get a thrill out of helping them and their families grow, reach their goals and discover new opportunities that come about through success.”

A native of Powerview, Manitoba, Watson is an alum of the University of Minnesota- Duluth where he played Division One hockey for the Bulldogs. Watson was a recipient of the Hobey Baker Memorial Award (given annually to the Best Collegiate hockey player in the country) and his No.14 Jersey has been retired by the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Watson has been with Northwestern Mutual for 16 years and became a Managing Director in 2009. He currently resides in Duluth with his wife Molly and their three children: Tony, Patrick, and Emily.

Financial Security Company Honors Watson District Office for Internship Program

August 2014 – The Watson District Office of Northwestern Mutual is proud to announce they received two awards for their internship program at the company’s annual meeting in Milwaukee. The Duluth office, under the leadership of Managing Director Bill Watson, was recognized as a Top Five District Office and Daniel Moseley, College Unit Director, was recognized as a Top Five College Unit Director.

As a College Unit Director, Moseley is a member of the office’s leadership team and responsible for recruiting, training and leadership development of interns from area campuses, all while maintaining a high-level financial planning practice. The Top College Unit Director award is based on the following criteria: number of interns, intern production and the college unit director’s personal production.

“We have such an opportunity to further impact our community through the future leaders on local campuses,” said Moseley. “These students will be our best and brightest as we look towards a future of rapid growth at our office in the Duluth area.”

Northwestern Mutual’s financial representative internship program provides real-world opportunities for more than 3,000 full-time college and university students throughout the country.  Northwestern Mutual is recognized as having one of America’s “Top 10 Internships” 17 consecutive times since 1997 according to the 2014 Vault Guide to Internships. Since 1967, more than 41,000 students nationwide have participated in the company’s internship program.

 “We take great pride in continuing the tradition of the Northwestern Mutual internship program,” Watson added. “Programs like ours are vital as we strive to retain talented, young men and women in our community.”

Northwestern Mutual-The Columns Resource Group Receives Childhood Cancer Impact Award for Local Fundraising Efforts

January 2014- Northwestern Mutual—The Columns Resource Group was recently recognized for their fundraising efforts during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month last September.  Following an exciting month of raising over $30,000, we were able to donate four Starlight Children’s Foundation Fun Centers™ and three Starlight Tablets to hospitals across Minneapolis. Due to these great efforts, we are honored to have received the Childhood Cancer Impact Award and $50,000 to be donated on our behalf to Childhood Cancer.
